Manuel graduated as a lawyer at Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico on 29th October 1986 presenting a thesis entitled "The Subject Matter of the Contract of Insurance and Legal Nature of the Insurance Company's obligation" having passed the exam. He took a post degree course on "International Legal Business" at Escuela Libre de Derecho comprehending studies on U.S law; August 1994 - June 1995.
On October 2010 to June 2011 Manuel took a post degree course identified as D-1 B High Direction of Business at Instituto Panamericano de Alta Direccion de Empresa (IPADE) in Mexico City; having taken all the continuity and updating courses of said program from the years 2011 to 2015; having taken also a post degree course at IPADE known “Person and Family in 2011.
Manuel is a partner at Garcia Pimentel y Asociados, S.C. which is a law firm based in Mexico City.
Manuel´s practice in general is litigation in civil, administrative and commercial matters; having participated for more than 27 years until now representing the interests of insurers and reinsurers in relation to claims related to aviation accidents and/or incidents, airport accidents and/or incidents as well as in claims related to liability in general including liability from hotel operations, products liability; either litigious or non litigious claims in Mexico and when dealing with litigation abroad Manuel has participated in the same with the collaboration of foreign law firms; having participated also in advising insurers in relation to Directors & Officers insurance claims as well as Errors & Omissions insurance claims; property and casualty in general in insurance and in reinsurance.
Also Manuel has participated in defending the interests of insurers and/or reinsurers in claims on reinsurance matters through counseling and also in litigation in Mexico or abroad through correspondent law firms.
Manuel has provided advice in general on corporate and administrative matters including industrial and intellectual property law including litigation.
Manuel has participated in arbitration procedures in Mexico and abroad in relation to claims against insurers and has acted as Mexican expert on Mexican law in litigations pursued in the United States of America; having acted as arbitrator in several cases.
Manuel has been the President of the Legal Committee of Swiss Re in Mexico for the periods 2012 to 2016. He has been a professor on alternate means of solving controversies at Escuela Libre de Derecho since 2011 until today and is the coordinator of the seminar named "Law on Insurances and Bonds" at Escuela Libre de Derecho since 2015 with the collaboration of the National Commission of Insurances and Bonds. Manuel has been appointed as professor of Insurances and Bonds Law at Escuela Libre de Derecho since 2015.
Manuel has been a professor of law also at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Universidad Anahuac del Sur, Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad Panamericana and in Mexico City on several subjects including Roman law, International Public Law and International Private Law as well.
Manuel has participated as a speaker in several conferences in Mexico sponsored by companies in the insurance and reinsurance market including Swiss Re Mexico and has written several articles related to insurance and reinsurance law which have been published in Mexico by Swiss Re Mexico and Aon Benfield; having attended also several conferences organized by Swiss Re in Mexico in insurance and reinsurance matters as well as other conferences organized in London, England on the subjects of aviation insurance and reinsurance.
Manuel was admitted in several legal organizations. Member of Phi Delta Phi (Gustavo R. Velasco Chapter at the Escuela Libre de Derecho), acting as President in 1984; member of the Asociación Mexicana de Derecho de Seguros y Fianzas, A.C. (Mexican Association of Insurance and Bonds, A.C.) accepted in 1997; and member of the International Association of Defense Counsel accepted in 1998.
